The 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards took place at Festhalle Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, last Sunday, and naturally, we went fashion spotting.
Here are the dresses that heated up the 2012 MTV EMAs for us and the ones that left us feeling icy cold.
VERY HOT – Rita Ora
Like in our last Rita Ora spot, Rita Ora went theatrical on us, but this time, we are 100% buying the drama she’s selling.

Rita Ora stunned in this Marchesa Fall 2012 red ball gown with a floral-embroidered bodice and a voluminous skirt. Her blonde curls, styled in a Marilyn Monroe fashion, added the final touch to her stunning appearance.

HOT – Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift stuck to her tried-and-tested sparkly dress formula in this J. Mendel Fall 2012 white sheer-paneled gown. We have no complaints- it’s what works for her.
She styled her hair in tousled locks, paired with smokey eyes and a natural nude lip. Doesn’t she look like a living doll in these pictures?

LUKEWARM – Anna Sergeyevna “Anne” Vyalitsyna
Anne Vyalitsyna rocked her biker jacket-inspired black zippered dress custom-made by Replay. The dress looks amazing on her, but we doubt it’ll look as good on anyone but a supermodel like Anne V.:

NEUTRAL – Louise Roe, Alicia Keys, and Carly Rae Jepsen
Louise Roe channeled a goddess/gladiator-inspired look in her gold-collared and belted white halter dress from Sass & Bide.
Alicia Keys went the safe route and wore one of Stella McCartney’s never-fail paneled dresses. Carly Rae Jepsen wore a Johanna Johnson lace strapless gown in silver, which is turning out to be her favorite color.
These ladies looked tremendous but nothing spectacular, so they’re in the neutral zone:

COOL – Heidi Klum
We see it, no doubt about it: Heidi Klum has a rockin’ body. But this Versace dress, with the lace-up front, the thigh-high slit up to here, and that weird one-sleeve thing, is one step away from being a hot mess:
COLD – Kim Kardashian

What saves Kim Kardashian from being placed at the bottom of our list is that she took a risk with this Stephane Rolland mullet dress. If there’s a time and place to wear something risky and edgy, it would be an MTV event:

VERY COLD – Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey’s bored face says everything we feel about her in this blah blue dress:
