Growing up in the limelight has its perks, but it also has its downsides — such as the constant criticism that comes along with growing up.
Ariel Winter, who underwent breast reduction surgery at the age of 17, has been fairly vocal about how she has always struggled with body image issues.
One year post-surgery, Ariel revealed how she has been taking a stand against all her Instagram haters at Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” in Los Angeles.

Known for her often-revealing Instagram posts, she has received both criticism and praise for her outfit choices, with some accusing her of being too risqué and others applauding her for promoting positive body image.
However, the Modern Family star insists that she is not being strategic with her social media posts and simply enjoys sharing glimpses of her life with her fans.

Ariel shut down her Instagram haters criticizing her body and telling her to “put away” certain parts she chooses to expose. The actress told them to let her live her life and to focus on their own Instagram accounts.
“I don’t really think I’m telling myself, ‘You should post this, you shouldn’t post that,’ I feel like I’m just having fun,” Winter told ET’s Katie Krause. “I like my fans to see what I’m doing.”

Winter believes that people make a big deal out of her posting photos where her butt is visible, but she sees it as something natural and not outrageous. She wants to live her life on her own terms and doesn’t understand why others feel the need to criticize her.
“Everybody is so hyped up on the fact that I post photos where my butt’s out. It’s a butt. Everyone has a butt,” she continued. “I don’t think it’s crazy.”
Winter doesn’t engage with negative comments and encourages those who don’t like her content to unfollow her.
“It’s like, ‘Let me live! I’m enjoying my life, you’re enjoying your life, you should be posting your butt if you like it, too!’” Winter explained.
“I’m not going to fight with someone on my Instagram that tells me they don’t like my outfit or I should put my butt away,” she made clear. “I’m sorry you think I should put my butt away, but just unfollow me.”
Growing up in the public eye, Winter admits to struggling with body image but finds inspiration in her strong female colleagues, particularly Sofia Vergara.

“I really had the greatest opportunity to have some wonderful role models, especially Sofia Vergara,” Winter shared.
“Working with a curvy beautiful woman that everybody looked up to and loved the way she looked … that was my inspiration to move forward and accept myself because that’s what matters.”
