If Anya Taylor-Joy had gone to the Met Gala, she would have looked amazing. But even though she missed out on the Met Gala this year, she was busy putting on a fashion show elsewhere while on the promotional trail for Furiosa: Mad Max Saga.
In the movie, set to be released in theaters on May 24, Taylor-Joy portrays young Furiosa, who becomes a robot-armed warrior after getting kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers. Throughout the film’s promotional tour, the 28-year-old actress has embraced method dressing, and her most recent ensemble didn’t disappoint.

A Grand Entrance
On Wednesday, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth were pictured riding a motorbike chariot on Hollywood Boulevard before their appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show to discuss their upcoming movie project.
Anya and Chris, dressed in matching black ensembles, looked cool standing inside the metal chariot driven by a masked man who appeared to have walked straight out of the Mad Max set.
The Dune: Part 2 star looked stunning in a leather LBD that screamed biker chic, while Chris was sharp in a black suit with a partially unbuttoned shirt tucked into a pair of belted trousers. He shielded his eyes from the sun with aviator sunnies and completed the all-black look with dress shoes.

Tough-Chic in Edgy Biker LBD
Giving an edgy dominatrix vibe, Anya opted for a black leather mini-dress that clung to every curve of her slender body. Its mock neck, short sleeves, padded shoulders, and thigh-grazing hem contributed to its flattering figure-sculpting silhouette.
Anya’s fitted leather dress, pulled from Acne Studios’ Fall/Winter 2024 collection, also came with a structured hip that created the illusion of an incredibly snatched waist, giving Kim Kardashian a run for her money. Breathing in a garment so tight must have been challenging!

Aside from how the dress fit her body like a glove, I adore the biker elements integrated into the dress. It had a zipper running down the center front, a zipped pocket on the left chest, and tattered trims around the neck, sleeves, and hem.
The dress wonderfully encapsulated the Stockholm-based label’s chic yet unconventional aesthetic and reflected The Menu actress’s preference for statement pieces.

Accessorizing a Black Dress
Given that black complements most colors, I find it easy to accessorize a black dress. I prefer to wear it with silver jewelry, which produces a polished finish and a sophisticated appearance.
I love how Anya’s stylist, Ryan Hastings, styled her LBD with silver Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Several rings, including a $1,425 sterling silver Tiffany x Elsa Peretti Cabochon Ring set with black jade, adorned her well-groomed burgundy hands.
She also wore silver hoops on her ears and the $2,500 Bone Cuff on her wrist.
Adding a few inches to her already impressive 5’8” height, The Northman star slipped her feet into a pair of black pointed-toe pumps, most likely from Christian Louboutin. Although they gave a sleek finish that I adore, strappy heels would have been more appropriate for a contemporary finish.

Sleek Hair and Makeup
I love that Gregory Russell slicked Anya’s platinum blonde hair into a neat high ponytail, complementing her sleek clothing. Georgie Eisdell injected a pop of color into the head-to-toe black ensemble with vivid red lipstick, which I like.

Furiosa: A Post-Apocalyptic Revenge Movie
Furiosa is a spin-off and prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road and the fifth installment in the Mad Max franchise. It takes place 15 to 20 years before the events of Fury Road and focuses on the early life of Imperator Furiosa.
Anya Taylor-Joy plays the titular role, Imperator Furiosa, originally played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 movie. Beginning with a flashback, the prequel tells the story of a young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) who is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and finds herself in the hands of a Biker Horde under the command of Wasteland Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth).
Furiosa grows up to become a warrior and expert driver. She has a shaved head and is seen enduring several hardships, such as losing an arm and needing to wear a robotic arm prosthetic. While Dementus and Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme) battle for control of Citadel, she vows to exact revenge on Dementus and devises a plan to get home across the Wasteland.
