Yet, amidst her illustrious career, Jamie cherishes her most vital role – being a devoted mother to her two daughters, Annie and Ruby Guest, whom she shares with her husband, screenwriter Christopher Guest.
While her mother shines brightly in the public eye, Annie has chosen her path away from the glittering lights of Tinseltown.
Here’s everything we know about Jamie Lee Curtis’ eldest daughter, Annie Guest, as we uncover more about her captivating life beyond the limelight.
Annie Guest’s Heartwarming Journey of Love and Adoption
Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest, share a deep bond with their two daughters, Annie and Ruby, who they welcomed into their family through adoption after struggling with infertility.
In an interview for Pact’s Point of View newsletter in 1997, Jamie explained, “Adoption was the only way for us to have a family… It becomes the viable option for you. If you want to be a family, that’s how you’re going to be it.”
Their first daughter, Annie, joined their lives in December 1986 through an open adoption process. It was a unique journey, as both the birth parents and the adoptive parents had the opportunity to meet and choose each other, all facilitated by an attorney.

Initially, their fame presented a different experience during the adoption proceedings. In the same interview, Jamie said, “It’s a look in their eyes – they’re afraid to look straight at you; they treat you like royalty; they’re very self-conscious. But when we met Annie’s birth mother and she said, ‘Hi, I’m happy to meet you,’ it was like, boom, it was OK. I knew we could adopt.”
Recollecting the day Annie was born, Jamie told PEOPLE in 1991, “We were awakened in the middle of the night with the phone call announcing that she was born.”
However, Annie’s introduction to her soon-to-be parents has been a bit “messy.” Jamie added, “She threw up when she saw me. She rolled over, looked at me, and went. ‘Waaah!’”
Annie Guest as Jamie Lee Curtis’ Book Inspiration
Motherhood transformed Jamie’s life, and Annie became a great source of inspiration. In the same Pact interview, she stated, “Motherhood is every wonderful cliché in the book. There is an unexplainable sort of thing you just feel. It’s a permanent commitment, one I’ve changed my life to meet.”
In 1993, Annie’s innocent remark sparked the idea for Jamie’s first book, “When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old’s Memoir of Her Youth,” which you can buy on Amazon.

The book captured the precious moments of her daughter’s early years and the exciting growing-up journey. Reminiscing about a specific moment, Jamie told Education and Career News, “She walked into my office, all petulant and sweet, and announced that ‘when I was little I used to wear diapers, but now I use the potty.’ The idea that she had thought about her life in the past when she was really just four, made me smile.”
In 1996, drawing on her experience of adopting Annie, Jamie released another children’s book, “Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born,” aiming to normalize adoptive families and celebrate the unique joy of adoption.
Speaking about the book, Jamie told Associated Press, “This is certainly the first one that I’ve ever seen that deals with it on any level of humor, and also in celebration. Because I think most people talk about adoption in a really, sort of, quiet, hushed voice … like they do about a bad illness.”
