Taiwanese actress Shu Qi attended the 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival to promote her latest film, The Assassin. She graced the movie’s photocall wearing an off-shoulder dress cinched at the waist with a thick leather belt.
What made us do a double take was the realization that we had seen the dress from the Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 collection worn earlier this year by someone else—Chloë Grace Moretz.
Now is the time to decide. Who do you think wore the dress better?
1. Shu Qi in an Off-Shoulder Dress
Shu Qi looked cheerful in an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 off-shoulder dress with an embroidered meadow print and velvet appliqués, the brand’s signature leather waist belt, and nude pumps at a photocall for “Nie Yinniang” (“The Assassin”) during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2015, in Cannes, France (Credit: IPA / WENN / KIKA / FayesVision / Dave Bedrosian / Future Image / Brian To)
The Taiwanese actress looked elegant and fresh in the dress, styled with nude-tone pumps and drop earrings.
2. Chloe Grace Moretz in Black Lace Dress
Chloe Grace Moretz attended the Vanity Fair Party wearing an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 black lace dress with mini flowers, a tiered skirt, bell accent sleeves, and a black leather waist belt at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on February 22, 2015, in Beverly Hills, California (Credit: IPA / WENN / KIKA / FayesVision / Dave Bedrosian / Future Image / Brian To)
The 18-year-old tastemaker paired it with T-strap sandals, a necklace, earrings, and red lips.
Who wore it better? We think the dress suited Shu Qi better. It aged Chloe a little. On the other hand, the younger actress styled it better. Shu Qi’s nude-toned pair of pumps didn’t work with the dress’s somber color palette.
