Margot Robbie’s Intense Preparation for Harley Quinn
To ensure the safety of the cast and prevent filming delays, the filmmakers saved the helicopter crash scene for last.
Margot Robbie prepared for six months before shooting her role in Suicide Squad, undergoing an intense training regimen that included gymnastics, boxing, weapons training, aerial silk training, and breath-holding underwater.
Although Oprah Winfrey, Kerry Washington, and Octavia Spencer were also considered for the role, Viola Davis delivered a powerful performance as Amanda Waller, the ruthless government official who forms the Suicide Squad in the movie of the same name (Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures)
Behind the Scenes and Cast Bonding
To capture their characters’ unpredictable and mad nature, director David Ayer and actress Margot Robbie decided not to rehearse their scenes together as Harley Quinn and the Joker. At San Diego Comic-Con International 2016, Robbie revealed this decision.
Meanwhile, many of the cast and crew got matching “SKWAD” tattoos to honor the film, including Robbie and Will Smith, who applied the tattoos themselves.

Tom Hardy’s Replacement and Robbie’s Stunt Work
Tom Hardy was initially chosen to play Rick Flag, but he had to drop out to star in The Revenant (2015). It’s worth noting that Hardy had previously portrayed Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), a character who was a former member of the Suicide Squad in the comic books.
Margot Robbie performed the majority of her own stunts. According to writer and director David Ayer, Robbie’s stunt double had little to do since Robbie insisted on performing the stunts herself. She was so determined that she spent more time doing the stunts than sitting in the trailers.

Cara Delevingne’s Comic-Con Appearance
In July 2016, Cara Delevingne joined the “Suicide Squad” cast to promote the 2016 American superhero film at the 2016 Comic-Con.
The then-23-year-old model-turned-actress rocked a Versace fall 2016 ensemble. Her outfit included a striped navy knit crop top and sky-blue high-waisted pants.

Interesting details, such as the thumbhole sleeves and the notched hems, gave the preppy outfit a sporty edge. Cara completed her look with black leather Saint Laurent “Janis” platform pumps and her brand-new lob haircut.
