Every woman wears a dress to the Golden Globe Awards. So, how do you stand out on the red carpet?

If you’re Evan Rachel Wood, you choose an unconventional option: a suit. Evan’s look was unconventional and not as popular as other ensembles, but it definitely carried a powerful message.

Evan, nominated for her work as Dolores Abernathy in HBO’s Westworld, ditched the idea of a dress in favor of a tuxedo suit on a day when practically every woman is clamoring to be in a designer dress.

The star confidently rocked a custom Altuzarra suit perfectly tailored to her statuesque figure.

While Evan Rachel Wood made headlines at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards by opting for a tailored Altuzarra tuxedo, she has also embraced more traditional red carpet looks. At the 2022 Westworld Season 4 premiere, Evan wowed in a stunning Zuhair Murad blue silk gown, proving her ability to switch between bold suits and elegant dresses effortlessly.

Evan Rachel Wood has also embraced vintage-inspired dresses, such as her black and gold flapper-style Gucci dress, which she wore to the 2011 LACMA Art + Film Gala. This retro, art-deco ensemble demonstrated her ability to channel old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist.

“This is my third nomination and I’ve been to the Golden Globes six times,” Evan said when asked about her ensemble. “I’ve worn a dress every single time and I love dresses. I’m not trying to protest dresses, but I wanted to make sure young girls and women know that it’s not a requirement.” Watch her interview below.

Her ensemble, inspired by vintage Hollywood menswear and David Bowie, was her nod to icons like Marlene Dietrich and Bowie, who would have turned 70 that day. Wood shared with E! News that her look honored Bowie and celebrated gender-fluid fashion, further expressing her tribute in a tweet earlier that day.
