Kim Kardashian is no stranger to wearing curve-hugging silhouettes and borrowing pieces worn by iconic personalities like Marilyn Monroe.
For her appearance at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala, presented by Gucci at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Skims founder donned one of her most seductive outfits to date: a white-hot plunging bodysuit with a tight-fitting skirt. Despite her undeniable charm and beauty, she faced backlash for her accessory choice.

Kim Kardashian was among the celebrities who honored artist Simon Leigh and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann at the event, which was created to merge the worlds of art and Hollywood.
The LACMA gala, first held in 2011, has become one of the year’s most anticipated events, drawing A-list celebrities to the museum. According to LACMA Chief Executive Michael Govan, this year’s gala, co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, raised $6.4 million, making it the museum’s most successful one to date. Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s “initiative to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming while also funding LACMA’s broader mission.”
Kim Kardashian’s Bold Fashion Moment: White Plunging Bodysuit and Maxi Skirt
Kim Kardashian has frequently worn bodycon outfits that highlight her physical features, so this look didn’t surprise me. Some may consider it excessively bold and daring, but this is typical of the socialite.
She stole the spotlight in the white Gucci ensemble, perfectly capturing her style, which often fuses edgy and sensual with a dash of Hollywood glitz. It appears to be a two-piece outfit consisting of a maxi skirt and a bodysuit top with a plunging neckline that reaches her belly button.
Kim was braless underneath the bodysuit. I initially thought it was from her shapewear label, Skims, as she’s been wearing bodysuits from her brand. She slipped it into a white floor-length skirt that was so tight that the bodysuit’s lower portion showed through.
Although I think it was unnecessary, Kim’s long ivory wool coat, draped over her arms, added refined elegance to the alluring ensemble. It featured a lengthy train that flowed behind her, giving it a glamorous look befitting a gala.

The Story Behind Kim Kardashian’s Princess Diana Attallah Cross Necklace
With her white outfit providing the perfect backdrop for bold accessories, Kim Kardashian styled her look with a huge amethyst cross pendant necklace resting comfortably on her chest.
Internet users quickly criticized the socialite after finding out that the necklace had previously been worn by the late Princess Diana at a charity banquet in 1987.
The Attallah Cross, created by British luxury jeweler Garrard in the 1920s, is set with square-cut amethysts surrounded by 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds.
The late Palestinian-British businessman Naim Attallah purchased it in the 1980s and lent it to Princess Diana, who wore it to a Birthright charity gala in October 1987. Diana paired the unique jewelry, affixed to a long string of pearls, with an Elizabethan purple and black velvet gown with a ruff collar designed by Catherine Walker—a far cry from Kim Kardashian’s bold outfit.

This marked Kim’s first time wearing the necklace on the red carpet since purchasing it for approximately $197,453 at Sotheby’s 2023 Royal & Noble auction. Initially valued between $96,000 and $144,000, Kim won the piece after outbidding three other bidders, according to Sotheby’s.
Adding a personal touch to the storied jewelry, Kim attached it to a shorter pearl strand and layered it with a Bulgari diamond and pearl necklace and a Tallarico pearl choker that resembled another Princess Diana necklace—an 11-strand pearl necklace set with rubies and diamonds.
I don’t think this much jewelry was necessary. Princess Diana’s elaborate necklace was more than enough, and adding the choker and the pearl and diamond necklace felt like overkill.

Gucci Bamboo Heels: Kim Kardashian’s Perfect Match for Her White Ensemble
White heels perfectly complement an all-white ensemble, and Kim did just that, slipping her pedicured feet into a pair of white patent sandals by Gucci.
This simple pair is made from white patent leather and features a minimalist design. It has an open-toe, a front strap, and a buckled ankle strap. The gold-tone bamboo heels, part of Gucci’s DNA, make this silhouette easily recognizable.
I love how Kim selected simple yet timeless shoes to highlight her dress and jewels, the outfit’s obvious focal points.

Retro Glam Vibes: Kim Kardashian’s Iconic Hair and Makeup at LACMA
Kardashian complemented her contemporary-vintage ensemble with retro glam. Her hair was styled in a sleek bob with flipped-out ends and two curly fringes caressing her forehead. Winged eyeliner, smoky eyeshadow, and nude lipstick enhanced her gorgeous features.
