Don’t you just love it when celebrities dig the archives and transform vintage clothing into something fresh? Dua Lipa did just that at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival! But while I admire her for championing sustainability, which I’m sure Cate Blanchett will approve of, I’m not quite feeling the festival mood of her outfit, which she resurrected from the archives of Ann Demeulemeester and Gucci.
Dua Lipa is no stranger to daring silhouettes that highlight her incredibly toned physique and have an edgy, slightly rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Before hitting the stage at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Lipa embraced her figure in archival pieces that blend punk gothic and medieval styles.
Lipa’s set was among the most talked about during the two-day festival. She belted out some of her hit songs, such as Levitating, Don’t Start Now, and New Rules, along with some fan favorites, Houdini, Illusion, and Training Season, from her most recent album, Radical Optimism.
Reviving Ann Demeulemeester’s Spring 2006 Vest
Though her daring style doesn’t exactly mesh with mine, I am constantly amazed at how well she pulls off every look!
Dua Lipa wore a silk waistcoat vest that her stylist Jahleel Weaver unearthed from Ann Demeulemeester’s Spring 2006 collection. The tiny number has a flattering halterneck and is embellished with sparkling chain crystals at the flap pockets. It flaunts her abs and cleavage and is so daring, held together by just a small fastener.
Peeking out from beneath the plunging vest is a shimmering crystallized chainmail bralette. It enhances the glitz and edge, perfectly encapsulating Dua Lipa’s style.
While the top part of her ensemble is interesting, I can’t say the same for the bottom half. It’s a floor-length satin maxi skirt with zipped pockets and a risque thigh-high slit formed by the zip along the center front. Yes, the metal zips give it an edgy look, but it doesn’t seem as dramatic as her top.

Dua Lipa’s Gucci Fall 2002 Tie-Up Heels
Lipa’s strappy shoes, which Weaver found in Gucci’s archives, thankfully saved the lower half of her attire. They were designed by Tom Ford for Gucci’s 2002 Fall/Winter collection when he was still the creative director of the Italian luxury fashion house. These were among his final creations before he left the Gucci company in 2004. Interestingly, Lipa was only around seven years old when these sandals debuted.
These exquisite sandals have thick grosgrain straps across the open toes, allowing Dua to showcase her black pedicure. Two thinner straps cross over her foot, and thicker grosgrain straps encircle her ankles like ballet slippers.
What makes these sandals luxurious, in my opinion, are the mother-of-pearl insoles placed on the toes and heels—though they might not be very comfy! They’re finished with high heels that elevate Lipa’s already impressive 5’8″ height.

Complementary Jewelry and Glam
Giving the look extra sparkles, Dua Lipa wore mismatched diamond earrings. She also enhanced the outfit’s theme with statement rings from Tiffany & Co.’s Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection.
These include the $11,500 ring in titanium and 18k yellow gold with 1.14ct. pavé diamonds and the $3,400 ring in titanium and 18k yellow gold with a round modified brilliant diamond. These rings have an angular spear-shaped motif inspired by Poseidon and his trident.
Although I don’t notice anything particularly noteworthy in terms of glam, I like how it accentuated Dua’s edgy vibe.
Katie Jane Hughes accentuated Lipa’s eyes with fluttery eyelashes and glittery bronzed eyeshadow. She then applied matching blush and finished the look with matte lipstick.
Her burgundy hair gave the all-black, monochrome look a touch of color. Peter Lux styled it in soft waves that cascaded down her back.
