Lorde made a rare public appearance during Paris Fashion Week, sending fans and fashion enthusiasts into a frenzy.
The New Zealand-born musician, whose legal name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, has maintained a low profile since releasing her album Solar Power in 2021. She often eschews social media and opts for a more secluded lifestyle.
However, her presence at Miu Miu’s womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 fashion show hinted a possible return to the spotlight.

Commanding Attention Among the Fashion Elite
Despite her reluctance to embrace the typical trappings of celebrity life, Lorde effortlessly commanded attention as she mingled with fellow attendees, including stars Hailee Steinfeld, Maddie Ziegler, and Sydney Sweeney, and took her seat amongst the front-row elite.
I must admit, seeing the 27-year-old singer and songwriter step out in a head-to-toe Miu Miu ensemble has me buzzing with anticipation.
Her choice to embrace the brand’s signature charm, blending bookish sophistication with modern flair, was a bold move that perfectly encapsulated her enigmatic persona.

A Mix of Intellectual Charm and Fashion-Forward Layering
However, as much as I adore Lorde’s fearless approach to fashion and the nod to intellectual charm, I can’t help but feel slightly underwhelmed by the abundance of layering in her outfit.
The “Perfect Places” hitmaker’s ensemble for the occasion was a striking interpretation of the “Geek Chic” aesthetic. It consisted of a black Miu Miu wool knit polo top accentuated by a blue Miu Miu checked shirt peeking out from beneath the collar and sleeves.
She chose a chocolate brown bomber jacket to combat the Parisian chill, a cozy yet stylish choice that seamlessly coordinated with her pleated knee-length skirt.
Still, I can’t shake the feeling that a polarizing micro mini skirt from Miu Miu’s collection would have injected a youthful edge into the look, balancing the primness with a hint of rebelliousness.

A Whimsical Take on School Girl Aesthetics
Continuing her foray into School Girl territory, Lorde donned black $1,200 Church’s x Miu Miu brushed leather Oxford brogue shoes featuring round toes paired with scrunched-up gray socks for a whimsy touch. You can check them out at Farfetch.
Her beaded seashell earrings added a flair that perfectly complemented her outfit. At the same time, black Miu Miu Runway sunglasses shielded her eyes from the paparazzi’s flashing lights while lending an air of sophistication to her appearance.

Lorde opted for a neutral makeup palette that accentuated her natural features in keeping with her understated beauty aesthetic.
The most noticeable change, however, came in the form of her hair, as she traded her signature platinum blonde locks for a freshly brunette hue. Braided into two pigtails on the side, her hairstyle added a playful yet chic element to her overall look.
