Kim Kardashian is again at the center of controversy with a new nude Paper magazine cover.
The first version is innocent enough. It shows Kim wearing a black sequined gown and popping a champagne bottle, with the liquid shooting into a glass balanced on top of her hyper-extended butt.
The playful pose is a recreation of the iconic 1976 photograph of Carolina Beaumont, New York, taken by legendary photographer Jean-Paul Goude. Goude also photographed Kim for Paper’s winter 2014 issue.
The second version of the cover is where things get scandalous. Kim strips off the sequined gown, gets oiled up, and bares her shiny bottom, putting her best money-making asset in front and center of the magazine.
Printed right below is the text “Break the Internet, Kim Kardashian,” which pretty much summarizes the whole purpose of Kim’s nude magazine cover.

What do you think of this cover? Do you find it tacky, or do you find it refreshing that Kim is self-aware of her image?
Kim is proud of her work. Aside from sharing the covers with her 21 million followers on Instagram, she also posted a tweet saying, “And they say I didn’t have a talent…try balancing a champagne glass on your ass.”
If all you’re after is the black sequined gown, we understand — it is beautiful. And with the holidays around the corner, all we’ve got on our minds are sparkly cocktail dresses, too.
