Greta Gerwig deviated from her typical low-key, modest look, baring a little flesh while attending the 76th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, where she was nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film.
Although she lost to Christopher Nolan of Oppenheimer, the Barbie filmmaker received the Feature Film Medallion from Barbie actor Ryan Gosling, granted to the five nominees for Feature Film.
The DGA Awards honor feature films, documentaries, TV shows, and commercials that showcased outstanding directorial work in 2023.

A Red Carpet Moment: Greta Gerwig in Custom Balmain
Greta, who often wears unflattering straight or A-line gowns, emphasized her curves this time in Balmain’s form-fitting red off-the-shoulder gown.
Olivier Rousteing custom-made the striking gown for the Little Women director. The gown suited her figure well and featured a flattering sweetheart neckline that fell off the shoulders and revealed a hint of cleavage.

It had jewel-encrusted buttons down the center front, modest long sleeves, a floor-sweeping hemline, and a boning corset structure that gave it a more defined hourglass shape.
Greta’s metallic silver pointed-toe shoes were visible through the front slit. While the dress looked flattering on Greta, removing an inch or two from the hemline would have improved her appearance.

Accessorizing the Look: From Shoes to Jewelry
This already gorgeous dress didn’t require any jewelry, but her stylist Karla Welch added a large diamond ring and a triple-strand pearl bracelet, which contrasted sharply with the jeweled buttons on her dress.
Welch also collaborates with actresses Tracee Ellis Ross, Olivia Wilde, America Ferrera, Lainey Wilson, Amy Poehler, Busy Philipps, and Hailey Bieber.
Hair by John arranged her short bob in a messy side-parting with a few strands skimming her eyebrow. For her makeup, Molly Stern matched her dress to her outfit. She had pink blush on her cheeks, mascara highlighting her hazel eyes, and scarlet lips.
Red nail polish, done by nail artist Ashlie Johnson, provided a complementary finishing touch to the ensemble.

Ryan Gosling Is Dashing in a Red Gucci Suit
Margot Robbie was missing from the event, but Barbie’s Ken, Ryan Gosling, was on hand to present Gerwig the DGA Feature Film medallion.
He looked elegant in a red Gucci suit that matched Greta’s red dress. Underneath, he had a partially unbuttoned shirt tucked into a pair of slim-fit trousers.
Wearing a side-parted hairdo, Gosling finished his look with a gold necklace and black oxford shoes.
