Although Pom Klementieff gained fame as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, her debut in the Mission: Impossible franchise promises to captivate audiences again.
In Dead Reckoning Part One, she portrays the intriguing character Paris, a French assassin under the command of the villainous Gabriel, played by Esai Morales.
Tasked with eliminating Tom Cruise’s iconic character, Ethan Hunt, and his new ally Grace, portrayed by Hayley Atwell, Klementieff brings a dark and compelling energy to the screen.

Pom Klementieff on Playing a Villain in Mission: Impossible 7
In an interview with The New York Times, Klementieff expressed her excitement about portraying a villain, saying, “I love playing a villain. There’s something cathartic and a little bit insane about it that’s really enjoyable. Mantis isn’t the most physical fighter. So this was fun to get to play a rebel who loves killing, fighting, chasing.”

Adding another layer to her involvement in the film, Klementieff collaborated with Tom Cruise and writer-director Christopher McQuarrie to shape her character.
In an interview with Insider, she revealed, “So, I wanted to bring something completely insane that was really scary for Ethan. So it was just ongoing conversations with Christopher McQuarrie and Tom on how to create the character.”
As a result, Klementieff actively contributed to the character’s development, including input on Paris’ costumes, stating, “We were thinking about how the character moves, how the clothes move, and then I wanted to do some kicks too because I’ve been training for years. And high kicks, what to wear with that? So a skirt to not be limited in the movements. It took time to create the character and make something like this little monster.”

Klementieff also revealed that she developed a shared interest with Cruise – skydiving.
In the same NY Times interview, she said, “I’ve jumped 104 times since October 2021, when Tom Cruise gifted me skydiving lessons as a wrap gift. I love the rush, I love the precision, I love how sharp it makes me. When I jump off a hot-air balloon very early in the morning and the sun is rising and it smells like mist — it’s magical.”
