Following the success of The Recruit earlier this year, which starred Noah Centineo as a young spy, the streaming giant has now released another intriguing title – The Night Agent.

What Is The Night Agent About?
The Night Agent is a gripping, action-packed thriller based on Matthew Quirk’s novel of the same title, published in 2019 and available on Amazon.
Set in Washington, D.C., the story follows the journey of Peter Sutherland, a young FBI agent who finds himself embroiled in a complex and dangerous plot after answering a phone for covert spies.
Peter’s world is turned upside down when a terrified source reveals that a Russian mole has infiltrated the highest levels of the US government, putting national security in jeopardy.

1. Gabriel Basso (Peter Sutherland) – 6 feet (183 cm)
Peter Sutherland is a young, entry-level FBI agent who works in the White House basement answering a telephone that never rings. But soon, he finds himself drawn into a rapidly growing and terrifying conspiracy that goes to the Oval Office.

Gabriel Basso is no stranger to the acting world. Before relocating to Los Angeles to start a career as an actor, he gained experience in minor film roles in 2007 in movies like Meet Bill with Aaron Eckhart and Alice Upside Down with Alyson Stoner.
The 28-year-old American actor is also renowned for performing in the comedy-drama The Kings of Summer, which premiered in 2013.
His breakthrough performances were in The Big C on Showtime and in J.J. Abrams’s Super 8, a science fiction adventure movie.

Gabriel has appeared in prominent television shows, including Nickelodeon’s iCarly and ABC’s The Middle.
With Hailee Steinfeld and Dove Cameron, he also made an appearance in the 2015 action comedy Barely Lethal by Kyle Newman.
He most recently won praise from critics for his performance as J. D. Vance in Hillbilly Elegy, an adaptation of D. Vance’s 2016 memoir of the same title.
2. Luciane Buchanan (Rose Larkin) – 5ft 1 ½ (156.2 cm)
Rose Larkin is a struggling tech entrepreneur. Peter takes on the role of her newfound protector when she discovers terrible family secrets and assassins target her relatives.

Luciane Buchanan is a New Zealand actress and filmmaker who began her career as a teen star in her homeland, appearing in local shows such as The Blue Rose, Power Rangers, Brokenwood Mysteries, and Filthy Rich.
In 2017, she graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Psychology after taking acting workshops at the Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC).

The 29-year-old actress made her worldwide debut in 2018 when she was cast as the lead character Tripitika in two seasons of the Netflix series The New Legends of Monkey.
Luciane is well-recognized for her roles in shows like Mr. Corman on Apple TV+, Under the Vines from Libertine Pictures, and Netflix’s Sweet Tooth.
3. Hong Chau (Diane Farr) – 5ft 0 (152.4 cm)
Diane Farr is the White House chief of staff and one of Peter’s bosses. She looks after Peter as he digs into what happened to Rose’s aunt and uncle.

American actress Hong Chau is primarily recognized for her portrayal in the 2022 movie The Whale, where she received a nod for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and other supporting-actress accolades.
The 43-year-old star was well acclaimed in 2017 for her role as Ngoc Lan Tran in the movie Downsizing, for which she earned numerous nominations.

Since then, Hong has made multiple other film and television appearances, including the drama movie Driveways and the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects.
She also had a supporting part in movies like Showing Up and The Menu, as well as the television series Watchmen. Hong also played the lead in the film American Woman and the second season of the TV series Homecoming.
Supporting Cast of The Night Agent
Fola Evans-Akingbola, who measures 5ft 8 (172.7 cm), joins the cast as Chelsea Arrington, a driven US Secret Service agent responsible for the vice president’s daughter’s security.
The 28-year-old actress had a modeling career before she started acting. Youngers and Holby City on the BBC were her first acting credits.
Fola was cast for the acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones as the unidentified second wife of Khal Moro during the 6th series.

Erik Monks, a seasoned US Secret Service agent who rejoins the agency after a prolonged absence, is portrayed by DB Woodside, whose height is estimated to be 6ft 2 (188 cm) tall.
In 1996’s second season of Murder One, the 53-year-old actor debuted as Aaron Mosley. The fourth season of Grey’s Anatomy featured him as a guest star as Marcus. In 2016, he started starring as the angel Amenadiel in the Fox/Netflix series Lucifer.
Eve Harlow, who stands at 5ft 6 ¾ (169.5 cm), plays the unpredictable killer Ellen.
The 33-year-old Canadian-Israeli actress is well-known for her television appearances, including those as Tess in the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Maya in the CW series The 100, and Taylor in the NBC miniseries Heroes Reborn.

Phoenix Raei, approximately 6 feet (1.83 m) tall, joins the cast as Dale, an assassin who killed Rose’s Aunt Emma and Uncle Henry and is Ellen’s personal and professional partner.
The 32-year-old Australian actor of Persian ancestry played the lead role in the Netflix series Clickbait in 2021, and he was a regular cast member of the Perth TV soap opera The Heights, which ran for two seasons.

Sarah Desjardins plays Maddie Redfield, the vice president’s daughter and a college student. The 5ft 4 (162.6 cm) tall Canadian actress is best known for her roles as Jenna Hope in the YouTube Premium series Impulse and Whitney in the 2011 The Hub miniseries Clue.
The 28-year-old actress has also been in recurring parts on several TV shows, such as Donna Sweett in Riverdale.
Enrique Murciano, who measures 6ft ½ in (184.2 cm), takes on the role of Ben Almora, the Secret Service’s director. Enrique is an American actor best known for playing FBI agent Danny Taylor in the CBS mystery drama series Without a Trace from 2002 to 2009.

The 49-year-old actor is well known for his roles in the television series Bloodline and the movies Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Black Hawk Down, and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.
Will There Be a Season 2 for The Night Agent?
The Night Agent started streaming on March 23 and has already been picked up for a 10-episode second season.
Viewership numbers are a significant factor in selecting whether properties receive more runway. The series was renewed one day after Netflix unveiled record opening weekend viewership for The Night Agent.
While The Night Agent does seem to have been created as a limited series, TV successes like The White Lotus and Big Little Lies also started as one-offs until their casts and creators decided to return for more.

In the second season, The Night Agent will continue to chronicle FBI agent Peter Sutherland’s escapades, possibly from the White House basement or in a more extensive role.
Although the book on which the series is based is a stand-alone work, author Matthew Quirk has written several additional books with intriguing espionage concepts that might serve as inspiration for upcoming seasons.
