Johnny Harper, who in his youth used to play American football for San Jose State, joined his daughter Saweetie on the red carpet at the 2021 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, was born on July 2, 1993, in Santa Clara, California, to Trinidad Valentin, who is Filipina-Chinese, and Johnny Harper, who is African-American.

“I felt like it helped me mature at a really young age,” she told People about her mixed-race identity.
Nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the show, the “Icy Grl” superstar donned a 2004 Dolce & Gabbana dress selected by stylist Wilford Lenov.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” Saweetie wrote on Twitter on March 20, 2021, after ending her two-year relationship with American rapper Quavo.
“Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women. I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation,” she added about his infidelity.
