Discovered by America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks on Instagram, Winnie Harlow made her debut on season 21 of America’s Next Top Model and became one of the fourteen finalists.
Frequently called a “cow, zebra, and all manner of other disparaging slurs” while growing up, the Canadian fashion model was diagnosed with the skin condition vitiligo when she was four years old. According to Mayo Clinic, the disease causes the loss of skin color in blotches and can also affect the hair and the inside of the mouth.
Partly thanks to her distinctive skin markings, the 25-year-old is now one of the world’s most sought after models and has appeared on the cover of Vogue, in Beyoncé’s Lemonade music video and many prestigious fashion campaigns.

On September 16, she launched a stylish fall shoe collection with Steve Madden. Discussing her new partnership with Nordstrom, she explained why it’s a perfect fit.
“I love to brainstorm with different creative minds: we come up with so many fun ideas. So I was excited when Steve Madden approached me for this collaboration. They allowed me to have a lot of freedom in this special collection. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”
