The thought of cutting couture makes us clutch our pearls, but apparently Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t feel the same! The actress revealed on Instagram that she took a pair of scissors to a no doubt expensive Monse fringe dress and cut it up prior to wearing it to last night’s NYC Ballet 2017 Fall Fashion Gala.
In the short video clip, SJP’s be-ringed hand can be seen picking up five-inch strips of glittery blue fabric cut off from her fringed frock. Monse evening dresses can retail for upwards of $8,000, which would leave us shuddering. But since this is SJP we’re talking about, her shearing sacrifice was well-intended: it was so her dress could be shorter and properly showcase her sandals from her own shoe label, SJP Collection.
The “Sex and the City” star completed her sparkly blue look with a sleek chignon, glittery blue eyeshadow, concentric diamond earrings and a Gabriela Hearst navy satin purse.
