In 2001, fans were disappointed when Variety reported that UPN would not renew Moesha for a seventh season.

Ending on an unresolved cliffhanger with Myles Mitchell (played by Marcus T. Paulk) being kidnapped by a rival of Dorian, the show was the biggest success for United Paramount Network (UPN), which launched just months before Moesha Denise Mitchell’s first television appearance.

With several unresolved plots, it came as no surprise when Brandy Norwood revealed that the American sitcom is coming back. She made the announcement while attending the 29th annual DIVA Foundation event that was hosted by Sheryl Lee Ralph.

“We would like to know, would you like to do a ‘Moesha’ reboot?” asked Sheryl Lee Ralph, who played her stepmom Dee Mitchell on Moesha. “Yeah! Absolutely,” Brandy responded. “I’m here to solidify that we’re gonna bring ‘Moesha’ back.”

Moesha, which aired from 1996-2001, also starred Marcus T. Paulk, Lamont Bentley, Shar Jackson, Countess Vaughn, Yvette Wilson, and Ray J.

Lamont Bentley, who played Moesha’s lifelong friend and neighbor Hakeem Campbell, died on January 19, 2005. He was killed in a single-car accident in southern California’s Ventura County.

Yvette Wilson, who had a recurring role as Moesha’s older friend and owner of the neighborhood hangout The Den, died from cervical cancer at the age of 48 on June 14, 2012.

In 2017, Brandy and other surviving Moesha cast members appeared on an episode of The Real where they all agreed that they were interested in rebooting the show.

In May 2012, Brandy brought a little bit of fringe and metallic to the Billboard Music Awards, and we have to admit — we loved it.

The American recording artist and entertainer arrived on the white carpet in a sexy fringe Hervé Léger dress completed with metal plate details.
