From Sally Draper to Fashion Icon
Nine years earlier, she was cast in her first major role as Sally Draper, the daughter of lead character Don Draper, in the acclaimed TV series Mad Men, which aired from 2007 to 2015.

Kiernan made her first appearance as Sally Draper in ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,’ the premiere episode of Mad Men, at just seven years old. The episode aired on July 19, 2007. Born on November 10, 1999, in Chicago, she celebrated her eighth birthday later that year.
“I remember going up to January [Jones, who played Betty Draper] when I first started,” she told The Los Angeles Times, “and being like, ‘Don’t you play my mom?’ I remember when I would have 6 a.m. call times, I couldn’t sleep the night before. I was so excited to wake up early.”

“I think I was a very passionate, excited, young child, and it’s sort of a testament I think [to] everyone on the set of Mad Men for never really treating me like I was a child or less than them,” she said in an April 2021 interview with InStyle’s editor in chief Laura Brown. “They always just treated me like a cast member.”

Kiernan took the stage to present costume designer Julie Vogel with the Excellence in Short Form Design Award in a dramatic dress from the British fashion house’s Resort 2016 collection.
The strapless tiered lace and tulle dress had an A-line skirt that fell to her ankles and a wide belt with round buckle detail.
