We’re glad to see the overalls trend extend well into the summer season, but Cara Santana just found a way to make them even more warm-weather-appropriate.

While shopping for a house plant in the heat yesterday, the 29-year-old actress and fashion blogger kept cool in a striped yellow crop tee paired with cutoff short overalls. Yes, you read that right: short overalls, or “shortalls” for short.

Cara’s outfit exudes lightness and airiness, but we’re not convinced of the versatility of her shortalls. Cutting off the legs of overalls seems to diminish their cool street style.

With overalls, you can wear the top part up or down, adding to their flexibility. In contrast, shortalls leave you with a look that teeters on the edge of resembling a child’s outfit.

We think the dated gladiator sandals Cara accessorized with make us dislike this outfit even more:

But when we looked for these shortalls, we also didn’t like how all of the models looked like little girls in them:

Or maybe it’s because all of these models are young girls? What’s your verdict on short overalls — are they fab or drab?
