In May 2020, Kohl’s announced it would remove eight brands from stores, including Jennifer Lopez’s clothing brand, Rock & Republic, and Juicy Couture.
“Kohl’s is committed to creating assortments that are right for our customers. As CEO Michelle Gass mentioned on Kohl’s Q1 earnings call, we will exit eight downtrending women’s private brands,” a Kohl’s spokesperson told Today.

Kohl’s decided to eliminate the eight women’s brands: Dana Buchman, Jennifer Lopez, Mudd, Candie’s, Rock & Republic, PopSugar, Elle, and Juicy Couture. The company told analysts it would shift its focus to exercise and fitness brands.
The struggling American department store retail chain, which experienced declining sales during the pandemic, signed a deal with Jennifer Lopez in 2010 to start selling the Jennifer Lopez Collection under JLo by Jennifer Lopez brand.
In a 2011 interview with Glamour, the Selena star talked about earlier attempts to launch a fashion line. “You really only learn the best things from the things that don’t work, in a way,” Lopez said.

“You learn from your mistakes. I was able to take all of that experience and understand there were certain things I would not compromise on. This time around, I wanted to make sure that the quality matched the value,” she added and promised to wear the products herself.

“I think the boyfriend jean is something you’ll see me wearing a lot in paparazzi photos and things like that, because I actually wear it in my regular life,” Lopez said about her JLo by Jennifer Lopez jeans.
In addition to her fashion collaboration with Kohl’s, Lopez released a footwear collection with Giuseppe Zanotti in 2017 and another shoe collection with Designer Shoe Warehouse in 2019.
