Stepping Out in Style: Irina Shayk’s Most Memorable Designer Heel Moments

Her love affair with heels started young. “I love high heels from the age of 10! Short skirts and then high heels,” Irina once shared.

My classmates used to make fun of me. Like, ‘Ooh, she’s so skinny and she’s wearing high heels.’ But I just wore what I like, and I didn’t care about people’s opinions, the same as I don’t care now.

That fearless fashion spirit shines through in every look—whether she’s turning heads on the red carpet or elevating streetwear with a bold pair of boots. Here are some of her most unforgettable footwear moments:

  • Versace: At Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Irina turned heads in a vibrant yellow dress with a crescent-shaped cutout, paired with bold black patent sandals. The look was completed with see-through Plexi heels, a modern touch captured in her Versace black sandals feature.
  • Maison Margiela: Embracing edgy sophistication, Irina wore a vintage Thierry Mugler gown at Vogue Paris’ 95th Anniversary Party, grounding the dramatic look with Maison Margiela’s architectural heels—a nod to her taste for avant-garde fashion.
  • Stuart Weitzman: At the Met Gala, the Russian supermodel floated down the red carpet in a nude Moschino gown adorned with florals, effortlessly styled with metallic Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals that lengthened her legs and complemented her ethereal vibe.
  • Givenchy: While promoting Schweppes in Madrid, Irina exuded minimalist chic in a silky slip dress and nude Givenchy ankle-strap sandals, proving that simple can still be striking.
  • Dr. Martens: Even off-duty, Irina makes a statement. She was spotted walking her dog in NYC wearing an oversized shirt and classic Dr. Martens combat boots, showcasing her ability to merge practicality with street-ready cool.
  • Burberry: For a visit to the Sloomoo Institute with her daughter, Irina wore leather pants and a white crop top, pairing them with chunky two-strap Burberry sandals that added a bold, grounded finish to her elevated casualwear.
  • Are You Am I: Channeling early-2000s nostalgia, Irina brought back the whale tail trend in a daring black mesh corset by Are You Am I, paired with low-rise Frame jeans and chunky Both “Gao” combat boots, making a strong case for Y2K fashion’s edgy return.
  • Christian Louboutin: At the Jeffrey Fashion Cares fundraiser, Irina delivered a sleek high-fashion moment in a bright blue Alexander Wang bandage-style polo dress. Her burgundy Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels added a sultry finish, perfectly balancing the sporty cut of the dress with red carpet glam.

While Irina Shayk is often admired for her high-fashion moments on the runway and red carpet, her modeling career has also pushed her far beyond the comfort of couture. One unforgettable example? A daring shoot that took her deep into the waters of the South Pacific, where danger was as real as beauty.

Irina Shayk Swims With Sharks for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, Risking Her Life for the Perfect Shot

You are dead wrong if you think being a model is all glitz and glamour. Posing for pictures requires keeping fit and looking pretty; sometimes, it also requires risking one’s life.

Take Irina Shayk’s sexy shoot for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit as an example: the Russian beauty had to swim with sharks—and we mean that literally.

“There’s tons of stingrays and fish and blacktip sharks. It was kind of dangerous because a shark could literally bite my booty and the swimsuit off,” Shayk told Entertainment Tonight.

Irina talked about what it was like behind the scenes at her Tahiti-shot SI Swimsuit spread at a release party in New York.

Irina wore a white babydoll dress with flapper-inspired fringe layers at the bottom. She paired the clean dress with metallic floral laser-cut sandals that revealed her pretty feet. Irina’s entire look is from Azzedine Alaïa.

Irina Shayk posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for the 10th time, and it was her most challenging shoot yet.

Shot in Tahiti, she was surrounded by underwater predators, including stingrays and blacktip sharks. The danger was real, as Shayk mentioned that a shark could have potentially bitten her swimsuit off.

Despite new models in the issue, Shayk affirmed that she’s not going anywhere and has been with Sports Illustrated since her discovery in 2007.

“They discovered me back in 2007,” Shayk said. “I’m still here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
