Amy Schumer co-hosted the 2022 Oscars and lit up the stage with some pointed jokes at her fellow Hollywood alumni, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, and Kirsten Dunst. During her monologue on stage, Schumer mentioned DiCaprio’s dating life and his latest Netflix film, Don’t Look Up.

“Leonardo DiCaprio, what can I even say about him? He’s done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends. Because he’s older, and they’re younger. OK, you get it.”
The star then cut a joke about the movie about Venus and Serena William’s father, King Richard. “After years of Hollywood ignoring women’s stories, this year we finally got a movie about the incredible Williams sisters’ dad.”
The star made plenty more jokes on stage, but during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the star revealed that she always pre-approves her jokes beforehand.

“I did reach out to people I was going to joke about before and make sure it was OK with them because I’ve been burned too many times.”
The star confirmed that all her comedic targets at the Oscars knew the jokes she would make and had approved them. She “didn’t want the camera to cut to somebody looking sad.”
It’s a good thing she practices pre-approving jokes because her bit with Kirsten Dunst caused an uproar among Dunst’s fans.

During the bit, Schumer pretended not to recognize Dunst and called her a seat filler.
After the event, Schumer began receiving death threats because of the joke. Dunst announced on social media that she was in on the bit.
Amy Schumer Accused of Body-Shaming Jennifer Lawrence
The 2022 Academy Awards saw plenty of drama, including Will Smith slapping Chris Rock in response to a bit on stage.
However, Amy Schumer also caused a stir online with a joke about Jennifer Lawrence that fans said hinted at body shaming.
Schumer was one of the evening’s hosts and began cracking a few jokes to start the event. The popular comedian decided to look back on the Best Picture nominee. Jennifer Lawrence’s Netflix movie, Don’t Look Up, was nominated for the award.
Schumer joked, “Don’t Look Up is nominated. I guess Academy Members ‘don’t look up’ reviews. Wait a minute—I loved that movie. Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in it, even though she did gain some weight this year.”
The joke was in reference to Lawrence’s pregnancy in 2021. However, many fans didn’t like Schumer’s joke and were quick to say that it hinted at body shaming. The Hunger Games actress, who is known to crack a joke or two, wasn’t in attendance at the event.
But Lawrence has made several jokes about her pregnancy, including on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Colbert asked what she had been doing during her hiatus, and she replied, “I just had a ton of s*x” while pointing to her pregnant belly. She clarified that it was a joke.
Before the 2022 Oscars controversy, Amy Schumer had already made a name for herself in comedy and fashion. Known for her bold style choices, Schumer turned heads at various high-profile events. One standout moment was her appearance at the 2016 Met Gala, where she made a lasting impression with her striking red ensemble.

In May 2016, Amy Schumer looked sexy in red as she posed for the cameras at the 2016 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The then-34-year-old comedian donned a custom bright red dress from Alexander Wang, which featured silver accents and triangular cutouts around the chest.

The floor-length dress featured chain straps and a small chain, and its plunging neckline — held together with metal pins — accentuated her ample cleavage. She carried a “Roxy” studded mini-bucket bag from the same American fashion designer.
